First, the discussion prompts introduced our 3rd-5th grade students to classic philosophical and ethical dilemmas, providing frameworks for evaluating choices and thinking critically. In addition, the discussion process itself helped our students practice social skills, including listening attentively to others, taking turns, disagreeing respectfully, considering other perspectives, and more. The lessons were so compelling that the students would often reference the points made during the discussions outside of class, and they connected philosophy with other subjects, such as literature and history. Further, Gordon and the other graduate students were wonderful with the kids; they ensured that the discussions went smoothly and that everyone had a voice. Our students really looked forward to philosophy time!"
